UK VAT rates
The standard UK VAT rate is 20% and applies to most goods and services. A reduced rate of 5% applies to things like home energy and children's car seats, and some items are zero-rated, such as most food and children's clothes. "Add VAT" starts from a price before VAT; "Remove VAT" works backwards from a price that already includes it.
